Why This Recipe is so good

This is a basic but totally delicious cookies and cream protein ice cream recipe. No pudding mix, sweetened condensed milk or cream cheese. It’s made with real milk and cream, your favorite protein powder, a bit of sugar and vanilla and of course Oreo cookies!

You really can’t go wrong with ice cream with oreo cookies. It’s such a good combo and this recipe is ridiculously easy to prep so you’ll always have a sweet treat waiting for you in the freezer.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Milk and cream – Use full fat milk and heavy whipping cream to get the best ice cream consistency.
  • Protein powder – I used Terra’s Bourbon vanilla whey protein powder. 1 serving has 22 grams of protein and makes this ice cream sooo good!
  • Sugar – If your protein powder is sweetened use less sugar so your ice cream isn’t overly sweet.
  • Oreo cookies – A must for this cookies and cream ice cream. I used 5 chocolate Oreos broken in half. After blending, stick a few more cookies into the ice cream for even more Oreo goodness.

How to Make Ninja Creami Cookies and Cream Protein Ice Cream

Make ice cream base: Add milk and protein powder to a Ninja Creami pint container. Top with the lid securely, then shake until the protein powder has dissolved. Remove the lid then use a spoon to stir in heavy cream, sugar, vanilla bean paste and salt for 1 – 2 minutes or until the sugar has dissolved.

Freeze: Top pint container with a lid, then freeze for 22 – 24 hours on a level surface.

The next day: Remove the lid, then insert the pint container into the Ninja Creami outer bowl, then into the machine. Press the “ICE CREAM” button, then allow it to run through the cycle.

Mix in oreo cookies: Take a spoon to make a hole in the middle of the ice cream all the way the to bottom about 1 inch wide. Stuff Oreo cookies inside, then insert the pint container back into the ice cream machine. This time, press the “MIXIN” button.

Serve cookies and cream protein ice cream immediately or pop it back into the freezer for 10 – 15 minutes to firm up a little before enjoying.

Notes

How To Store/ Make Ahead

Frozen unblended pints will last in the freezer for 2-3 months. After blending for 1 – 2 months. Sometimes they can become freezer-burnt or super icy if left in the freezer after blending for too long.

Store blended ice cream in reusable ice cream containers or these paper ice cream containers. So you can save your Ninja Creami pint containers for more ice cream creations.

Tips and Tricks

If your ice cream isn’t smooth after the first cycle through the machine, run it through the RE-SPIN cycle with a splash of cream or milk until it reaches your desired consistency.
Protein powder: Swap out the vanilla protein powder for unsweetened or Oreo-flavored to increase the Oreo flavor.
Serving ideas: Whipped cream, crushed oreo cookies, rainbow sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles, mini chocolate chips or sugar cones or waffle cones.
