Why This Recipe is So Good
- Homemade ranch is literally the best thing ever. Whether it’s buffalo ranch dressing, or herby ranch or regular ranch dressing, homemade ranch from scratch will always be better than store-bought.
- This dairy free ranch is literally so easy to make in just a few minutes. The dry ranch mix is made with everyday pantry staples like dried onion and garlic powder, dried dill and parsley. It’s mixed with mayonnaise and pickle juice to give this dressing its signature tangy creaminess.
- Switch up the flavor of this ranch salad dressing by using fresh herbs or vegan sour cream. Serve this salad dressing over your favorite salad, or grain bowl. Enjoy with Air Fryer Potato Skins or Smashed Potatoes and Cheese or make a thick ranch dip to enjoy with raw veggies.
Recipe Ingredients

- Mayo – Gives this dairy free ranch dressing a creamy consistency. Use vegan mayo if you are vegan or egg free.
- Dairy free milk – I used oat milk, but unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk can work here. The milk helps to thin out the dressing making it more pourable. If you are looking for a ranch dip consistency, omit it or use a bit less.
- Pickle juice – A splash of pickle juice, lemon juice or apple cider vinegar adds a nice tang to the ranch dressing since we aren’t using sour cream. I prefer dill pickle juice because I find it makes the dressing taste more like ranch, but either one is fine.
- Homemade ranch seasoning mix – This dairy free ranch seasoning mix is made with onion and garlic powder, onion flakes, dried herbs like chives, dill and parsley, and salt and black pepper. It doesn’t contain any dry buttermilk powder since this recipe is dairy free.
