Why This Recipe is so good
No pudding mix. This ninja creami chocolate ice cream recipe is made with 6 ingredients and no pudding mix. Real milk, cream, whey protein powder, sugar and rich cocoa powder.
It’s a delicious sweet treat that will help you reach your protein goals. An entire pint of this ninja creami protein ice cream contains 22 grams of protein.
Recipe Ingredients
Protein powder – I used Terra’s Bourbon Vanilla whey protein powder. You can swap it out for the chocolate flavor to increase the chocolate-y-ness of this ice cream. It makes thick and creamy Ninja Creami ice cream, so there’s no need to use pudding mix.
Milk and cream – the perfect combination for the best soft serve ice cream consistency.
Cocoa powder – Use high-quality unsweetened cocoa powder to really give a rich and decadent chocolate flavor.
How to Make Ninja Creami Chocolate Protein Ice Cream
All ingredients, measurements, and instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Add milk and protein powder to a Ninja Creami pint container. Top with the lid securely, then shake until the protein powder has dissolved.
Remove the lid then use a spoon to stir in heavy cream, sugar, vanilla bean paste, salt and sifted cocoa powder for 1 – 2 minutes or until the sugar has dissolved. Top with a lid then freeze for 22 – 24 hours on a level surface.
The next day, remove the lid then insert the pint into the Ninja creami outer bowl then into the machine. Press the “ICE CREAM” button then run through the cycle.
Scoop and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks
Sift the cocoa powder before combing with the other ingredients to avoid clumps.
Add the milk to a jar with a lid or a protein shaker bottle to combine the protein powder. I found that the electric milk frother didn’t combine the protein powder properly and left it chunky.

Notes
How To Store/ Make Ahead
Frozen unblended pints will last in the freezer for 2-3 months. After blending 1 – 2 months. Sometimes they can become freezer-burnt or super icy if left in the freezer after blending for too long. Store blended ice cream in reusable ice cream containers or these paper ice cream containers. So you can save your Ninja Creami pint containers for more ice cream creations.Tips and Tricks
- If your ice cream isn’t smooth after the first cycle through the machine, run it through the RE-SPIN cycle with a splash of cream or milk until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Protein powder: Swap out the vanilla protein powder for unsweetened or chocolate flavored.
- Sift the cocoa powder before combing with the other ingredients to avoid clumps.
- Add the milk to a jar with a lid or a protein shaker bottle to combine the protein powder. I found an electric milk frother didn’t combine the protein powder properly and left it chunky.
- Serving ideas: Whipped cream, crushed oreo cookies, rainbow sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles, mini chocolate chips or sugar cones or waffle cones.
