Butterfly pea flower lemonade is tart, refreshingly sweet and changes color naturally. The dark blue flowers are steeped into a tea then mixed with sugar and once lemon juice is added it changes from blue to purple!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons dried butterfly pea flower
  • 1 cup hot water
  • ¾ cup cane sugar or white granulated sugar
  • 1 cup lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 3 cups cold water

Instructions

  • Steep the butterfly pea flowers in hot water for 5-10 minutes in a large pitcher or mason jar. Strain out the flowers, then stir in sugar until dissolved. Allow to cool to room temperature or transfer to the refrigerator to chill.
  • In a large pitcher, combine butterfly pea flower tea, lemon juice, and cold water. Stir to combine, chill in the fridge until you're ready to serve or enjoy immediately over ice.

Notes

Yields: 5 1/2 cups
Store lemonade in the fridge for 5 – 7 days in an air-tight mason jar or bottle.
